PUBLIC LAW
At E Rex Makin & Co we have very significant and pioneering experience in the field of human rights law (we have prepared and presented cases before the European Court of Human Rights resulting in changes to domestic law) and in the growth areas of data protection and freedom of information involving issues for individuals and public bodies.
Public law (sometimes known as Administrative Law) concerns the exercise of power by public bodies. Government; some courts and tribunals (such as coroners’ courts); local authorities; universities, schools and other educational institutions: the prison service: NHS Trusts: the Legal Services Commission; and many more of various kinds that make decisions affecting citizens. The legality of those decisions and the procedures that public bodies follow are matters with which we can help.
